The Re-Arranger

Just a short and super sweet post this morning: The living room had been really bothering me. The couches were up against the windows and the coffee table was sandwiched in between the TV and the main couch. I spent a lot of time agonizing over how much the room just turned me off. Finally, this weekend, I was completely fed up. I went to bed so distraught Friday night, but Saturday morning I sprung right up out of bed, recruited a half-asleep Andrew and we rearranged the entire living room. I knew we needed to open up the space, but with the long shape of the room, I had no idea how to do it. Here’s a before shot of the original setup…

Original living room setupThat’s our old coffee table – the new one is about double the width, so imagine trying to squeeze through to go sit on the loveseat. Now here’s a shot of Andrew helping to bring my impulse idea together…

Living roomIs this not so much better?! I absolutely love the living room now! Let’s face it, the focal point of the room is the TV. When you’re looking at the TV in the corner, your eyes will then wander to the left and right. We’ve just expanded the view of the room by a lot.

Old living room setup vs. newNow if we could just get our curtains up! We finally picked some out and we just ordered new slipcovers for our couches too. We’re really excited about bringing this room together and starting a little picture wall above the main couch. Of course I couldn’t let this post pass by without referencing one of my favorite songs from my favorite band. Why not check out Mates of State?
